The story goes, Basquiat artwork was purchased by the TV writer back in 1982. The news name was Thad Mumford. He gave Basquiat $5,000 in 1982 to buy 25 paintings that Basquiat allegedly painted in his basement studio. And he put the works in his storage unit, which he kept until 2012 when it was auctioned off for non-payment.
