Compression and Dynamics in Music
Compression is useful, but maybe this is my classical background, but i'm used to dynamics. I like the dynamic information in music. It it's nice to have ebb and flow. And if you'd give the time into putting the automation in, you can actually lose a lot of that plastic, fantastic sound. Especially vocals, when they're over compressed or very compressed, they're so flat sounding.
