Using a Radio Telescope to Get a Bigger Field of View
When working together, each telescopes beam size becomes the field of view for the entire elescope. And then that whole scanning thing you mention, that still happens. But we know how to do that. It's not like they don't mosaic hubble images as well, but just a different size. So we're going to end up with one continent working at one set of wave lengths, another continent working at another set of wave length. Each set bringing us into more redder and redder part of the spectrum.
