In the 60s, airline CEOs were all former pilots who'd like been test pilots. Robert Forman VI was the CEO of Continental Airlines in 1936 and held the job until 1980. He got rich during World War II because he used his airlines planes to take US troops to Europe for the Army Air Corps.
