Aquinas' Account of Human Nature
Aquinas' account of human nature bears a striking similarity to contemporary psychological attempts to understand human nature. The difference between the human experience of passion and the animal experience of passion is that the human experience involves reason. A human being is able to reflect on his own passionate state and actually decide whether or not it is reasonable to experience this passion in this time. So that's the main difference. We are able to include in our passionate experience the reflection of reason which can alter our experience of an emotion in a particular time.
