The Core of the Illusion of Separation
The illusion of a separate psychological self is based on the original what's called sin, which translates as missing the mark. The mystic spiritual tradition treats you as a continuing entity across birth. What you start with as a fertilized egg is not a blank slave on which an ego is written but a very definite set of factors and predisposing factors that are going to develop over time.
