The Effects of Mechanical Stress on Muscle Performance

A heavier load will give you more tension than a lighter load or more, more stress for that particular repetition. And there was also an effect of, uh, of fatigue, a bill of fatigue or the effort involved. If I'm doing a set of 12 reps with 50 kilograms and then do another set with 30 kgs, if I take that set to failure, the last number of reps as I keep continuing on are going to give more mechanical stress. The body, the muscles need to recruit higher threshold motor units to overcome the fatigue that's being built up so they can carry out their movements.
