Introduction
opera is a straws opera with his beloved collaborator Hugo von Hofmannstahl and it's a little bit of a fairy tale. Difrao Ona Schotten, the woman without a shadow has no shadow for most of this play or this opera. To not cast a shadow is to not be able to leave a sort of imprint of yourself upon the world. The main characters are about to face a crisis, which is that this main woman, this woman without ashadow who is known as the Empress in the opera, she is not entirely human.
