When you make a judgment, you are in turn making an interpretation. And if you don't understand that, then you're probably going to misinterpret it. We've lost the virtue of intellectual charity. I am shocked and scandalized when I'm actually recollected enough to realize the judgments that I make on people. The easiest way to do that is to be totally detached from the person.
