The History of Sharks in the Ocean

About 19 million years ago, most of the sharks in the sea vanished. Scientists are stumped because they think dinosaurs went extinct because of a massive asteroid hitting the earth. But there's no sign of anything like that happening when the sharks disappeared. These days, there are more than 400 species of sharks still swimming in the ocean - even though some people find them scary.
