In Our Time: Philosophy

CHAPTER

Sait Murdock's View of Morality

Sait murdock found this picture of morality shallow or complaisant in light of what they h'd seen in europe. The values and the moral judgments we have are an expression of our emotions, our approval their disapproval. They're not a reflection of how things are in the world. So let's take something which we think is always wrong. Let's say i say that torturing innocent children is alwayswrong. All i'm doing is really expressing my disapproval of torturing innocentChildren. You could have, you could agree with me on all the facts about the world, but you could choose a different set of values.
