Is There a Statute for the Treatment of Digital Assets?
The main issue that we've really had to tackle, and that we really want to solve, is that of certainty for parties. We don't have a statutory basis for the treatment of digitalasets. And so this question that we've talked about about whether they can be treated in the same way as tangible, conventional property like phones and like laptops,. There are no certain answers to that. The law commission is what's called an arm's length body, which means, very importantly for our work, that we are independent from government.
