The Importance of Comprehensible Input in Language Learning
Jared: I'm a big believer in personalization and that's one way that you can get much more personalized with your comprehensible input. John: While speaking has its place, its importance has been grossly overstated. When speaking, no new information is actually entering your brain. Therefore speaking itself doesn't help us learn new words or grammar. At the beginning of intermediate levels, we still haven't acquired enough of the language to be able to speak well. That means our brain will try to find whatever it can to fill in the gaps.
