Stuart Shanker and Dr. Susan Hopkins invite us to think about self-regulation as different domains or different areas. The biological domain is a stress within ourselves, the social part of our stressors can be things like not being able to read other cues. In early childhood education, we are all susceptible to pro-social stress because we're in this field for nurturing and caring. And so it's up to us to introduce these concepts about teaching them strategies and tips about how to feel good about themselves and how to get along with others.
