Death and Resurrection Repair That Inability
The poem was created before his transgression in a great state, much greater than the man is now. And if he hadn't transgressed, he would have achieved perfection. The offspring would have been divided into different levels and into different characteristics like branches on a tree. But because of the transgression, his condition descended to this much lower status. He says it would be harder to get there, but we can't get there. That's why there's death. Death comes in as a repair for the failure.
