Is Happiness a Causal Influence in the Workplace?

There is just a mountain of research that happy people do better in the work place by any metric, including objective ones. So it's better to be happier, just from a performance standpoint. But then i would think that there going to be a measurement problem. It may be that people who are happy choose a particular type of profession.
