From essentially 18 95 until 19 78, afganistan was under the control of one government. The monarchy was overthrown to create a president, but that president was the cousin of the king ah. For 50 years, you had afghanistan, ah that stayed out of both world wars,. Had a central government that was very weak, but no insurgency inAfghanistan. By the time 19 92 comes around and the soviet union is no longer there, no great power is interested in afghanistan. And if no greatPower is interested in Afghanistan, then it tends to revert to anarchy.
