Founding American Fathers

The phrase founding fathers came into usage in the early 19 hundreds. Initially its predecessor was founding american fathers, but eventually that middle word got dropped out in order to sound and both of those phrases were coined by none other than everyone's favorite early twentieth century president, warren g Harding. So this attempt to use the idea of founders as a source of ideals was really it was failing by the early twentieth century.
