The Role of Experts in Decision Making
I think one of the failures of government and politicians has been an attempt to run away from that responsibility, just a book on everything to experts. Experts should be inputs to a decision making process, not sort of the deciders. There's a way to answer this in a very technocratic way and say, absolutely, this is a problem and we're going to solve it with an automation tax. I think that's a mistake. Ultimately, there are other benefits that people get from going to a job and feeling like they worked for eight hours and getting out of the house.
