What Is Efficiency?

In cycling, efficiency is the relationship between how much power you produce and how much metabolic work you perform. And we do that by measuring watts and then also measuring oxygen consumed or breakdown of carbohydrates versus fats at a work rate. Most people are 19 to 22%. And the best athletes in the world, 22 to 23%. So it's such a such a narrow range like to go from your casual super sprint triathlete that does syncreled event once a year to Remco of Annapol winning the world champs time trial with 3% difference in efficiency.
