The Importance of Translation in Science
In 2006 I was in my mid 30s and in science you were always kind of a vagabund. You move around to increase your experience and your skills but at some point you are wanting to create a family, again you need stability. That was one of the reasons why I took up this industry positions but I also thought maybe to learn different skills on how to deal with science. It certainly proved right up to this point because scientists as a whole, if you just talk about basic science, do you neglect the translational aspect that you take? An idea is not translated into a product that you can buy or that can be used by society, it doesn't contribute to societal change.
