How Much of the Life We Find Is Intelligent?
Eric Kirschenbaum is a zoologist who studies animals. He says to know how likely it is that we'll hear a message from another civilization and what that civilization would be like, we need to look at earth. So he's saying we're feeling good about the first part of the Drake equation which Caitlin took us through. What about the second part? How much of the life we find is intelligent enough to make technology that could send out signals? Yeah, so like they'd be able to send out distant beeps into the darkness of space. Exactly. And I think we feel more comfortable now that life is probably not as extremely unlikely as people once thought.
