When we have these urges to go view pornography the last thing that we want to do is use our willpower. Willpower what it is is just trying to force it away try to drive it away and that's not how quitting pornography works. You don't have enough willpower to quit pornography honestly you just don’t have enough willpower and it doesn't work. It actually makes the urge stronger. Okay it doesn't make it go away it just makes it more powerful. That's why we don't want to use willpower as a way of resisting an urge because forcing it out of your mind or fighting it will only make it worse.
In today's episode we talk about why surrendering is such an important part of the process to quitting porn.
I'm not talking about surrendering as in accepting defeat or accepting that pornography has power over you. I'm not talking about surrendering as in giving up. I'm talking about surrendering to the experience of being a human.
We typically want to fight our urges to view pornography. Fighting is a sign of willpower, and willpower is never a long-term solution to quitting any habit, especially pornography. You don't need to fight anymore. Fighting is exhausting.
Join me in today's episode to learn how to stop fighting and start surrendering. This will make your journey to quitting pornography much easier.
