The Effects of Remote Intercessory Prayer on Bloodstream Infections

Two randomized, controlled trials tested the effect of remote intercessory prayer on outcomes in patients admitted to an intensive coronary care unit. The intervention was carried out four to ten years after the patient's infection and hospitalization. A recent systematic review of the efficacy of distant healing concluded that approximately 57 %, 13 of 23, of the randomized, placebo controlled trials showed a positive treatment effect.
