Nestor Makno was sentenced to death for the murder of a detective. He refused to beg for mercy telling his defense lawyer: "These rascals have sentenced us to death" Nestor's best friend and comrade on death row was a guy named Igor Bandarenko, which is another incredible Ukrainian name.
