Is There a Future for Advanced Physics?

I think we need to focus a lot more on fundamental physics as a society than it was anything else, right? I think because we've been kind of like our generation and our parents' generation has not really witnessed fundamental breakthroughs in physics. We figured out quantum mechanics and then we figured out, you know, the atom and then we developed bombs and integrated circuits and computer chips. Like these things are foundational to human society. But actually, I think we've sort of stalled in physics since the 70s.
