Introduction
Intelligent Squared: Should we use gene editing to make better babies? Critics say this technology will exacerbate inequality, pressure everyone into editing their children. Others say with safeguards against abuse, this technology could benefit us in a host of ways. Arguing for the motion is George Church, renowned geneticist who helped develop the first direct genomic sequencing method which led to the Human Genome Project. Opposing them are Francois Bayless, a leading bioethicist and philosopher whose research extends to heritable human genome modification; Marcie Darnowski, executive director at the Center for Genetics and Society.
