The Torah says it directly. I don't need more of a justification, but the explanation in terms of the philosophy would be we share so much. If you had a brother who became a criminal and visited him in prison, would you stop loving him? You'd feel terrible that your brother's life was shattered in this way. Still, it's your brother.
