The Importance of Diversity in America

The Supreme Court in America is faced with the case about whether there should be race-based affirmative action policies. Harvard has claimed not to use race to determine its numbers, but it just so happens that a certain proportion of different racial groups seems to be consistent over time. The idea that you should be punished because other people happen to share these arbitrary attributes and have similar aspirations to you seems distasteful.
