Johannes kepler was born in 15 71 and died only in 16 30. His life overlapped with that of figures like renee decate and thomas hobbs. Like lipsius, his career was shaped by conflict between protestants and catholics. He saw astronomy and astrology as the ideal root to the knowledge of god. And speaking of ideal he was a platonist.
