The War Between the English and the Danes
In the year one thousand and two, ethelred sought to resolve this conflict and tention between england and normandy. He made an alliance, which he sealed by marrying emma, the daughter of the duke of normandy. Then in november of that year, just a few months later, he gave an order to slaughter all the danes in england. This slaughter led to a recignition of warfare. And it was such an affront and so abhorrent that it actuall drew in the support of more danes from the danish homeland,. who then came across the north sea to support their distant relatives in britain.
