The Importance of Offsetting Carbon Dioxide
There are several campaigns for planting a trillion trees. They come up with schemes for how much carbon dioxide can be absorbed or usually sequestered by trees and other vegetation. If they pay somebody, let's just take a more U.S. example before we get even into the international ones that are the ones I'm most interested in. That's the basic idea of offsetting you pay somebody somewhere else to do something that at least in theory removes carbon dioxide from the air. Is that making sense?
