The Role of Friendship Jealousy in Relationships

The study looked at friendship preferences in a way that is target specific. We want friends who are generous to us and vicious to our enemies. So what we want in friends depends on the target that we're talking about. And so sometimes in fact it is helpful for our friends to be vicious instead of generous. Feeling friendship jealousy motivates friend guarding behaviors.
