English has 45 sounds. It's important to be able to differentiate between the sounds. I highly recommend students print out a copy of the International Phonetic Alphabet, the IPA. When you learn a new word that's phonetically challenging, your dictionary dictionary entry will have a phonetic spelling. You should strive to be accurate with your pronunciation.
