i don't think we should undermine or diminish the personal dimension of it. It really is a gift of love from god to you specifically. i have the strength to embrace my suffering with his help, because i know it's a gift from someone who loves me. For some people, they might do better with the redemptive aspect of it. They're both there. And our post human future is a rejection of, in a sense, what we are right as an escape from what we are.
