The Great Achievement of the Church Committee

Eli Lake: The CIA was on its way to becoming a deep state prior to the church committee. He says it had lost its way and gone into so many illegal and illicit activities with no oversight or supervision. Tom Risen: I think Bill Casey told Reagan what he was doing Allen Dulles and sometimes didn't even tell Eisenhower what he wasdoing. Eli Lake: We do need a new church committee to do that again. It clearly needs to be reformed again.
