Lincoln calls for a day of national thanksgiving to be held on the last thursday of november back in 18 63. His old country lawyer ways come out as he uses a farm analogy to argue for allowing the state to continue developing. He won't go as far as the radicals who want all black men to have the vote, but l Lincoln does, in this moment, become the first us President to call, even if in a limited capacity, for black suffrage.
