The E-R-G's Influence on the Conservative Party

Steve Baker's adoption of WhatsApp meant E-R-G members could be corralled to vote for or against whatever legislation the government brought forward. With Labour voting against the government throughout this period, there was only ever one outcome. On the first vote, 118 Conservative MPs rebelled against the government. The second was opposed by 75 and despite a string of leave-backing Tories, including Boris Johnson and Jacob Reesmogg, belatedly swing behind the Prime Minister. A third slightly tweaked vote was rejected by 34. And you'll recall that the first meaningful vote resulted in the largest ever defeat for a Conservative Prime Minister.
