The critic as educator. An example that comes to mind for me is a painting of an artist studio. And then somebody says, well, if you notice, like, let's look at the geometric angles that draw your eye to this particular element. That in turn leads to a discussion of understanding how this two dimensional depiction of a three-dimensional physical space could not be a real actual reflection of what that space is like.
