Pearlman's Spanning Tree Protocol

In 1985, Pearlman published a paper entitled An Algorithm for Distributed Computation of a Spanning Tree in an Extended Land. The industry incorporated it into the internet bridge it began selling in the mid-80s. Her self-stabilizing protocol helped make that unlikely revolution possible. She took complex ideas and made them intelligible.
