The Cat's Whiskers in English
The synonymy fellaway, we can't or we don't refer to the cat's whiskers as mustaches in English anymore. We do have a kind of consensus, at least that the French form in the two different spellings has landed in British and American English. And that mustachio is reserved for the special version. It doesn't really have an Anglo-Saxon equivalent, although maybe whiskers was that.
