The Pro of Changing Your Name
The common law allows people to change their name openly and often enough that it becomes plain. You now see these statutes taking on other aspects of efforts to criminalize, or to have a punitive effect. The way n for example, i changed my name when i married was, i got a marriage certificate as a result of being married. And i so showed it to social security, and i showed it, you know, to passport agency, department of state. And i said, this is my name. So that's simply an application of how common law name change would apply in the modern context.
