The opposite of propaganda is like a really good investigative journalist or journalism, Bernays says. An entity like an Amazon or a Putin who have an objective and are pulling all these strings in order to get the public to respond a certain way. And there is concealment involved. So it's helpful to always think about the motives and the attitudes of the person that's pushing this stuff out there.
Today Josh speaks with Sam McNerney on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Some of the topics we dive into are:
- The geopolitical reactions and support of Ukraine.
- Putin’s mental health and motivations behind the invasion.
- Russia's political and economic future.
- The prospects of WW3.
- How Russia and Ukraine are both using propaganda as part of information warfare.
- The differences between Russian and American oligarchs.
- And much more.
