The Case of Henry Wade and the Texas Abortion Law
Sarah Weddington was the daughter of a Methodist minister and had only recently graduated from University of Texas Law School. She filed suit on behalf of Norma Macquarvey, known in legal records as Jane Rowe. The lawsuit pitted feminist activists against Henry Wade, District Attorney of Dallas County. Curtis moved his practice to New Mexico where that states newly liberalized abortion laws enabled him to provide reproductive health care.
