The Importance of Syntax in Modern Translation

The 20th century translators all repackaged the syntax because they believe erroneously that modern readers can't follow parataxes and parallel clauses. So what happens is that these translations make the Bible sound like it was written the day before yesterday, which seems wrong for something written in Iron Age too. But see the King James guys had a good sense of the literary English of their era. I think he was the most influential among the three teams of translators. He was a fine prose stylist because we have his published sermons.
