Catherine Swinford - A Wonderful and Fascinating Woman

Henry VII derived his claim to the throne from the Beaufortts. The Tudors, that's all later monarchs, go back to this very unimportant woman, Catherine Swinford. She was Chaucer's sister-in-law and her children were largely brought up in this kind of fluid household where they were Chaucer's children. And what's really interesting is that connection was mainly forged by women and by this sexual relationship.
