Paths for People of Chinese Citizenship and/or Heritage

Some paths are more suitable for individuals of particular citizenship. We have split these ideas into three subsections to help you find the options that are more likely to be available to you. The first two categories relate to helping build the field of technical AI safety in industrial and academic Chinese labs. Path number one involves doing research on AI safety-related topics such as alignment, robustness, or interpretability at top Chinese AI companies. There are links here in the text to a couple of 80,000 hours podcast episodes about these topics. In China, companies that may have relevant positions include Baidu, Tencent, Huawei, and Real AI - backed by Singhua University's Institute of AI.
