Bessie France shot herself inside the buggy. Chief Farrell tried to find her murder weapon by dragging it across a river for days with magnets. The fire destroyed any evidence that could have been found at the scene of the crime. Today, DNA tests would be able to show this is from Bessie and in close proximity to him.
