Putin's Use of History Is a Great Question
In other writings you've explored Putin's weaponization of a kind of distorted historical narrative to explain and justify his war. I want to talk about what brought Russia and Putin to this point, but let's start with the kind of use of history. There's competitive myth making going on inside all political systems, including our own history very actively all the time. For me as a historian the live question is whether we also have history which trains people in a certain kind of thinking.
