How Did the Roma Persist?
There is a greater desire for uniformity, homogeneity and the rudiments of what we would now to day call a nation state. So you need to really control populations. And there's a rise through the 16 and early 17 hundreds. They could be subject to immediate execution if caught anywhere in england. The environment was so hostile in this early modern period. Why did they not either assimilate and blend into society or die out? Well it seems that there is a complex combination of internal and external factors that made it possible for the roma to continue and perpetuate themselvesthrough time.
